Collaboration, Mediation or Arbitration - Covid 19.

The Courts are closed due to Covid 19. What do you do if you are in the midst of a separation or divorce and your upcoming Court date has been postponed indefinitely? Collaborative Family Law and Mediation are out of Court settlement processes where those going through a separation or divorce work with professionals trained in interest based negotiations to reach an agreement on all issues regarding the dissolution of their relationship. Both processes are also child centered in that the needs and interests of the children are paramount and a family specialist may be engaged to assist the parents in their communication skills and in developing a parenting plan. The goal of these out of Court processes is for the parents to make their own decisions rather than having a decision imposed upon them by a third party such as a judge. These are cooperative and collaborative models of practice and conflict resolution.
